Bright and mysterious Betta fish has become one of the more popular choices of fish lovers in recent years. Belonging to tropical Asia, Betta fish thrive in the shallow warm waters due o their unique structure. These fishes can adapt to the tank conditions in a better manner than many other breeds. The water in the fish tank should be little warm but does not mean you need to maintain too warmer temperatures. Temperature between 74 and 78 degree Fahrenheit is ideal for these fishes although a range of 72 and 80 is also acceptable. This temperature should be maintained through a small heater along with a thermostat. This device will keep the water temperature steady. Cooler temperatures will not kill your fish but will cause the Betta fish to become inactive and also prevent them flourishing. Fishes immune system tends to be weakened if kept in cold temperatures for long and they may become an easy prey to all types of fish ailments. Water which is too warm will also be catastrophic for the Betta fish causing the bacteria to swirl and grow easily.

Fluctuating water temperatures can seriously affect the fish well being. Small bowls do not maintain constant temperatures which fluctuate widely during day and night. External source of heating or sunlight is not a good choice as they many not maintain steady temperatures. Water should also be cleaned regularly and a pinch of aquarium salt added to it to keep the fish away from various Betta fish diseases.

Betta fish are tropical fish and if you really want your beloved fish to stay happy and healthy you need to maintain the right water temperature in your fish tank. A steady water temperature will help the fish to be responsive, normal and active in the true sense.
